Jersey City Slam Finals
Jersey City Slam invites you all to check out our grandest poetry slam of the year: Jersey City Slam Finals. This isn't just a regular poetry slam that we have been holding twice a month, this is our Wrestlemania of Poetry Slams and our biggest FUNDRAISER of the year. Throughout the 2017-18 season, we have had over 40 different poets from all over the greater Jersey City area battle it out for a chance to represent Jersey City Slam at the National Poetry Slam!

Since 2011, Jersey City Slam has sent a team of poets to compete at the National Poetry Slam. The National Poetry Slam (NPS) is the largest team performance poetry event in the world. Teams from all over North America and a few from other places will converge in Chicago, Illinois, August 13-18, 2018 for a week of poetry, competition, and community.

At this slam, we are going to have the eight best poets that have walked into the doors of Tea NJ, go at it in three rounds of performance poetry to determine who will make the team. We will be taking the top five poets to represent us in Chicago.

We are honored to have GiGi Bella as our special guest feature. GiGi Bella is an award-winning poet, theater artist and social justice advocate. She has been ranked the tenth woman poet in the world (WOWPS 2017) and is the current Project X Bronx Poetry Champion, the 2017 Vox Pop Indie Champion, a 2017 Fem Slam Finalist as well as a literal mermaid. She is also a 2016 National Poetry Slam Group Piece Champion and 2013 Semi-Finalist as part of The Albuquerque Poetry Slam Team.
