José “Saint” Sanchez has been involved in the Arts from an early age. Born in NYC, he spent most of his life in Jersey City, NJ, where his residency with Soulful Cypher™ is based. Saint Sanchez took to playing music and creating his own art in the mid 1970’s, during the time when Artistic freedom was open to various forms. Deep in cultural changes and the awakening of his love of all forms of music, his greatest dreams included making his own music to share on an international level.

Saint pursued his DJ career during the days of vinyl, collecting over fifty crates of every genre, style and sound imaginable. He took a break a decade after his start and sold off his beloved collection just to find himself drawn back to collecting music in the 1990s. Having spent years gathering the sounds that he’s known for, he has taken that passion to new heights with collaborations such as Soulful Cypher™.
The intensity with which he approaches moving a crowded dance floor speaks of ‘still waters run deep” compared to his laid back approach to most things. His knowledge of music and its movers and shakers can fill books. He spins that understanding on the decks through his conversation and connection with the dancers. Always watching and alert to the mood of the dance floor, Saint admits “I’m passionate about spinning to an audience and watching an audience react and enjoy the music I bring to them.”
In addition to spinning all genres of music, Saint’s passions lead him to continually create through drawing and painting. He has an affinity for playing at Art Showings, outdoor events and festivals. His positive influence makes being in his sphere an experience to remember.

As one of the founding members of Soulful Cypher™ Saint brings his experience as a veteran underground deejay from the Paradise Garage and Zanzibar era. Saint best represents the brand’s versatile style of music, which would become its signature. Saint’s soulful jazzy, Afro-Latino fusion along with his deep rooted spirituality have helped Soulful Cypher’s events be the place to musically cleanse your mind, body, and soul.
